Every few weeks, we ask Martin Amis of Photobookstore to compile #OutNow, a selection of recently published, recommended photobooks. Sign up to our weekly newsletter to be notified of future lists!

Here are Martin’s latest picks, in no particular order:

Stranger by Olivia Arthur + Fishbar

Magnum photographer Olivia Arthur imaginatively explores the sinking of a ship in 1961 off the port of Dubai in this haunting new book. The stunning printing on transparent paper is far more than just a gimmick. Highly recommended.

Buy the book from Photobookstore or Fishbar (see Magnum’s website for a better look at the work).

Until Death Do Us Part by Thomas Sauvin + Jiazazhi

An exquisite cigarette box sized photobook, Until Death Do Us Part focuses on the unexpected role cigarettes play in Chinese weddings with photos from the Beijing Silvermine project, an archive of half a million negatives salvaged over the years from a recycling plant on the edge of Beijing.

Buy the book from Photobookstore or Jiazazhi.

Everybody Needs Good Neighbours by Arnau Blanch + Editorial RM

Recent deserving winner of Best Spanish Photography Book of the Year at PhotoEspana, Everybody Needs Good Neighbours is a claustrphobic study of the photographer’s hometown in Catalonia.

Buy the book from Photobookstore or Editorial RM.

No surprises here, but Steinmetz’ subtle poetic photographs are always a treat. This new book presents 73 classic Steinmetz photographs of adolescent and teenaged baseball players, on the field and in the dugout, focused on the game and lost in their own worlds.

Buy the book from Photobookstore or Nazraeli Press.

It is hard to believe that are not vintage 1970’s images by one of the Japanese masters. Masakazu Murakami spent two years travelling through Hokkaido and Tohoku, entranced by the many hot springs (Onsen) that he encountered. One of my favourite photobooks from Japan so far this year.
